We welcomed special guest, Susan Milner, from Science World on Friday. She took 8 of our classes to work on Math puzzles in the gym. Everyone seemed to enjoy the activities that were presented. Our assembly on Wednesday had students dress up as a Career. Some of the costumes were very creative.
This next week we look forward to getting a few more classes getting involved in Gymnastics classes at Maple Drive Gymnastics Club. Thanks to those parents who have been available to drive our K/1 classes to the Club.
Also in the next few weeks our Aboriginal Education Support worker, Tracy Telford will come to classes with some Senior First Nations students, to help teach the Lahal game. "Lahal is a traditional game of the First Nations people. The objective of the game is to win sticks by guessing where the unmarked bones are in the other teams hands. The team that gets all the game sticks wins the game. The purpose of playing is to bring people together or bring happiness to lift the heart s of others. The game is played at many occasions, celebrations, and gatherings." Our students are learning the game as part of our "Honour Your Health" Project this year.
Our Fun Fair is scheduled for this coming Thursday evening, April 27th. However it may be in jeopardy as we are short volunteers - if anyone is interested in helping out, please let Jen Generous or Cherish Mastre know by Monday. They are trying to fill spots to run the games, sell tickets and man the prize table among other things.
Also scheduled on Thursday, April 27th is our 2nd Annual Red Bluff/Lhtako Invitational Run. We expect to see students from Dragon Lake, Lakeview, Kersley and Carson. The teams will compete to vie for the coveted "Golden Shoe" award that Ecole Baker won last year. Thank you to Heather Fisher for organizing this run, and also the many parent volunteers who will join us. The run will begin at 9:00 am in the field closest to the gym.
Educo fundraising for the trip on May 24th, 25th, 26th continues with a Bottle Drive on Saturday, April 29th. If you have bottles and would like to donate before the event you may drop the bottles off at Jen Generous' house on Maple Drive.
We have a breakfast club fundraiser coming up on Friday, May 5th; our 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Dessert Auction. We hope to see a good turn out to support our Breakfast Club.
Thank you to the PAC for purchasing new toys for the sandbox to keep our littles happy.
Spring Music Concerts are happening the first week of May. The French Immersion Classes Spring Concert will be on Tuesday, May 2nd at 1:00 pm. The English Classes Spring Concert will be on Friday, May 5th at 1:00 pm. Parents are welcome to join us for an informal "concert in the round". Classes are pleased to be able to perform the musical numbers they have been practicing this term in music class for an audience.
Parents with children in Gr. 4 & Gr. 7 will be asked to respond to a Satisfaction Survey that will come home next week. Please stay tuned!
We appreciate any feedback from parents for our school.
