We have hit the ground running in 2017 at Red Bluff/Lhtako. What a busy place. It seems as though everyone; students & staff, have come back refreshed from our break ready to work hard. In addition to really digging into our learning in Reading, French Language & Math we have a number of fun activities for students to participate in across the grades.
Outside Fun- We have been enjoying our more moderate temperatures this week. Our younger students have been having fun on the little snowhills plowed up by the maintenance crews, using our crazy carpets. We want to remind parents of the importance of sending warm clothing (snowpants, hats, mitts) for these cooler days. The wind on our playground can be very chilly.
Winter Class Activities - We have several classes starting up with their winter fun activities. Thanks to our PAC for paying for bus transportation to these class activities.
Mme Suzie's class, Mme Cathy's class, Mme Rummel's class will be going skating on Mondays between recess & lunch for six sessions. Joining them are the English program classes; Mrs. Barclay, Mrs. McCart & Ms. Maytas who will also skate at the same time.
Mrs. Aaslie's class & Mme von Hahn's class are starting swim lessons on Thursday between recess & lunch for the next 10 weeks.
Mrs. Neighbours class, Mme Volks class, and the Gr. 6 students in Mrs. Lowndes class start skiing on Friday, Jan. 13th. If the temperature in town is -15 c or colder though we will cancel. We will reschedule any classes that are cancelled later in the year if that happens.
The remaining classes are working to organize a Winter time fun activity as well & we will let you know once it has been arranged.
Extracurricular Sports & Activities -
Basketball teams are up & running early this year. Our speedstacking club is meeting on Tuesdays at lunch. Some of our Aboriginal students are learning to carve with Ted Stahl. Mme Rummel will be starting the Chess Club on Thursdays at lunch in the library. Students in Gr. 3 & up who are interested in joining Dodgeball are invited to a meeting on Wednesday at lunch in the library.
