Halloween Costume Guidelines

ABSOLUTELY NO REPLICA WEAPONS WILL BE PERMITTED

· Costumes should be worn to school the morning of October 31^st so that changing will not cause disruptions in the classroom;

· all make-up should be done before your child arrives at school;

· costume masks should allow proper visibility and cannot be worn during class time;

· costumes should be age appropriate and follow our school district dress code (no revealing clothing or questionable logos);

· costumes should be culturally respectful;

· no replica weapons will be permitted (swords, staffs, knives, axes or guns, etc.);

· no costumes that glamorize “gangster,” “pimp” or sexualized lifestyles will be permitted;

· staff will not be able to take responsibility for students' costumes so it may be advisable to wear an older costume, or only the part of the costume that may not be damaged;

· students will be going outside for recess and lunch breaks so coats should be able to fit over costumes.

By following these guidelines we hope to have safe and fun celebrations.
