Chill Fair

Ms. Lowndes/Dawson's class celebrated their learning and held a "Chill Fair"!

Similar to a science fair, students chose a topic of interest and created projects to present in the gym. The focus was about strategies to reduce stress (the importance of sleep, stress busting products, deep breathing, etc.)

Student worked alone or in pairs.  If students chose to work with a partner they were prepared to share the workload and present their final project together.

From Garden to Table!

From garden to table!

Ms. Kishkan and Ms. William fed a lot of kids today from ÈRBL's garden vegetables. There was two crockpots full of stew and Ms. Williams made bannock. The children worked hard to plant, harvest the garden and clean all the vegetables.

Ms. Lowndes/Mrs. Dawson class joined Ms. Kishkan’s class.  The older kids buddied up with a younger child and they ate lunch together.

They loved the stew and bannock!

We had such a great turn out!  A number of families joined us for some amazing treats, good music, and kids activities.  It was a great opportunity to connect with other parents, teachers and members of the community.

A big thank you to Ms. McCart and Geraldine William for organizing such a wonderful evening and for all your hard work!

Traditional Villages

I enjoyed teaching the children about traditional villages. Our ancestors lived off the land, eating moose and deer, different types of fish and varieties of berries. Each student made a drying, scraping rack for moose and deer hides. I told the students this is how the process starts to make moccasins, mucklucks, gloves, vests and coats. To this day a lot of First Nations people still carry on with this wonderful culture. This was a fun learning experience for the students and they really enjoyed making their villages.
