Traditional Baby Baskets

Traditional Baby baskets:
I brought traditional baby baskets to the school and shared the culture behind them as I presented them to classrooms. Baby baskets are called Ch'i in Chilcotin. Babies can use them for up to two years. When the baby grows , a bigger basket is made. My mother is very cultural, she taught me that you do not give the basket away when the baby is done using it. The reason is the baby's dreams are in the basket. The basket is made out of willow sticks, deer hide and fabric. My mother raised my twin sister and I in baby baskets, and I raised my children the same way. It was nice sharing this part of my culture with all of the students, they enjoyed it.
